Recommended Subwoofers

Most ZVOX systems can be used with an external subwoofer for added bass.

ZVOX Requirements

Check the back of your ZVOX. You are looking for a jack labeled Line Out, Sub Out, or Headphone/Subwoofer Output. The jack may be an RCA jack or a 3.5mm minijack.

Subwoofer Requirements

Any modern powered subwoofer will work with a ZVOX, provided it meets the requirements below.

  1. Powered. The subwoofer needs its own built-in amplifier. Passive subwoofers that require an external amplifier are not compatible.
  2. Crossover or low-pass filter. There needs to be a knob that lets you set the cutoff frequency.
  3. Volume control. A volume or level knob is required so you can blend the subwoofer with the ZVOX.
  4. Inputs. The subwoofer needs either RCA jacks or a 3.5mm minijack input.

The vast majority of subwoofers sold today will work with a ZVOX that has an output jack.

Note: A subwoofer that came packaged with another soundbar will rarely meet the requirements above and is generally not compatible.

Setup

Start with the crossover filter set to 90Hz, then adjust up or down slightly until it sounds right in your room. Use the volume control on the subwoofer to blend it with the ZVOX rather than letting it overpower everything else.

Our Recommendations

Monoprice 60-Watt Powered Subwoofer - 8 Inch
Budget option. A compact 8 inch sub that adds noticeable low end without taking up much space.

Polk Audio PSW10 10" Subwoofer
Mid tier option. A 10 inch driver with more output and deeper bass than the Monoprice, and a long-standing favorite.

Andover Audio SpinSub
High end option. Uses a Class D amplifier, dual 6.5 inch drivers, and IsoGroove technology to deliver deep, rich bass.
