How to Remove the Grille (SoundBase Models)
You can remove the front grille from your ZVOX SoundBase using a pick tool. The key is to work slowly and loosen the grille a little at a time so you don’t damage the grille or the speaker cabinet.
- Insert the pick tool at one corner of the grille and very slowly pull the grille out about 1/8" to 1/4".
- Remove the pick tool, reposition it a couple of inches away, and pull the grille out another 1/4" or so.
- Keep repeating this process along the grille until you reach the other end.
- Go back to where you started and repeat, pulling the grille out a little more each pass, until it’s loose enough to remove by hand.
Tips
- Work from the bottom. Flip the speaker over and pull the grille out from the bottom edge. If you accidentally scratch the grille, the mark will be much less visible.
- Use slow, steady pressure. The grille may not seem to budge at first, but with constant force it will start to move. Trying to pull it out quickly will damage it.
- Reposition the pick once there’s a gap. Once the grille is out about 1/4", insert the pick tool into the part of the grille that was inside the cabinet. That way, any scratches will be hidden once the grille is reinstalled.
- Keep the pick off the cabinet. Touching the speaker cabinet with the pick tool will leave a mark.
- Save the black adhesive. Don’t throw away the sticky black material that holds the grille in. It prevents vibration and keeps the grille in place. If it falls out, simply put it back.
Most importantly, take your time! Removing the grille should take about 5 to 10 minutes. Rushing the process can damage the grille or the speaker cabinet.
